By-Elections for two Tripura Assembly seats alongside six states scheduled for September 5th

Agartala, Aug 08 (FD) The Election Commission of India (ECI) today announced the by-election for the two assembly constituencies namely Dhanpur and Boxanagar under the Sipahijala district of Tripura would be held on September 5 this year.
The Dhanpur assembly constituency fell vacant after the Union Minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment, Pratima Bhowmik resigned as an elected MLA from the constituency on March 15 this year.
She contested from the constituency in the last state assembly elections held on Feb. 16 last.
The Boxanagar constituency fell vacant as the opposition CPI-M MLA, Samsul Haque died on July 19 last due to cardiac problems.
The By-elections for the two assembly constituencies in Tripura would be held simultaneously with seven assembly constituencies of 6 States i.e. Jharkhand, Kerala, Tripura, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) here announced that the gazette notification for the elections will be done on August 10, filing of nominations would be started on 17th August and the scrutiny of the nominations would be held on August 18.
The last date of withdrawal of candidature is August 21 and the elections would be held on September 5. The counting will be held on September 8. FD JK
