Budget Session of Assam Legislative Assembly begins

The Budget Session of the Sixteenth Assam Legislative Assembly commenced today amid protests by opposition parties over various issues. The first budget session of the newly constituted Assembly will have 16 working days spread over 26 calendar days. The Annual Financial Statement (Budget Estimate) for 2026-27 will be presented on July 10. The session will have a recess from July 16 to 21 and is scheduled to conclude on July 31.
