BSF, Customs seize 100 kg cannabis, arrest three smugglers in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 1 (FD) Three smugglers have been arrested and 100 kgs of cannabis recovered following a joint raid conducted by Customs department and the BSF at Lilagarh Tea Garden in Sabroom subdivision of the South district.

Superintendent of Customs department, Elbin Singh said, acting on a tip-off they formed a joint team of BSF and customs department and laid an ambush in Chhotakhil area and intercepted two vehicles and on search recovered 100 kg of cannabis on Friday night.

The team detained three individuals identified as Bapi Nama, Manab Saha and Abhijit Das and seized three expensive phones including one iphone, and Rs. 1, 49,000 from their possession.

An official said, despite anti-narcotic operations drug trafficking continues and many people are being addicted.

Singh said interrogation is on and on the basis of the interrogation two more people are likely to be arrested soon. FD JK
