BSF beefs up security n the sensitive BOPs along Bangladesh

Agartala, July 7 (FD) The Border Security Force (BSF) has beefed up security along the 856 long borders with Bangladesh, to check smuggling and human trafficking, officials said today.

BSF I.G, Patel Piyush Purushottam Das said the issue like effective border management and checking of smuggling and human trafficking figured in the I.G level meeting with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and a list of criminals operating along the border was handed over to them.

The BGB assured to take appropriate measures against the criminals.

Das also said that security was beefed up along the sensitive outposts and started sharing intelligence inputs with the Tripura to check criminal activities in the border areas.

Meanwhile,  work on Single Row Fence (SRF) in the Muhurighat area in South Tripura district was completed.

Due to heavy rainfall, some erosion was noticed near the base of the fence for which a retaining wall was being constructed by the construction agency. When work on the retaining wall was started, BGB objected to it and a company commander level flag meeting was also held.

But the issue was resolved immediately as IG BSF Tripura Frontier, Sh Patel Piyush Purushottam Das, IPS spoke with Regional Commander of BGB and clarified the issue. BGB has subsequently agreed to the work and the construction work on the retaining wall has already resumed. A robust mechanism is in place for resolving all such issues between the two border guarding forces at all levels, a BSF statement said. FD JK
