Brishaketu Debbarma Inaugurates Two-Storey Market Stall at Shankhala

Agartala, Aug 30 (FD) Tripura Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Brishaketu Debbarma inaugurated a newly constructed two-storey market stall at Shankhala Industry market under Hezamara block, with the government expecting the facility to strengthen local trade and economic activities.
Speaking at the inauguration programme, Debbarma said an organised and developed market provides better facilities for traders while creating a safe, hygienic and convenient environment for buyers. He expressed hope that the newly inaugurated market infrastructure would provide further momentum to commercial activities in the area.
The market stall has been constructed under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department at a total cost of Rs 2 crore 47 lakh and 78 thousand. The newly constructed facility comprises 20 rooms.
As part of the wider infrastructure development of Shankhala Industry market, separate sheds for meat and fish sellers, toilets for men and women, drinking water facilities and other essential amenities have also been arranged.
Debbarma said the government’s objective is not limited to improving people’s standard of living but also includes creating better facilities for small traders, farmers and local entrepreneurs. According to him, improved market infrastructure would contribute to employment and income generation.
He further said the government is working to improve infrastructure in other markets located in tribal areas, describing economic development and self-reliance in tribal regions as priority areas. He urged traders and residents to properly use and maintain the newly developed infrastructure so that the market can emerge as an important commercial centre.
MDC Rabindra Debbarma, Hezamara BAC chairman Sunil Debbarma, Director of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department Dr Phanibhushan Jamatia and Chief Engineer Swapan Kumar Das were among those present. Hezamara Sub-Zonal Chairman Paritosh Debbarma presided over the programme. FD SB
