Agartala, Oct 22 (FD) Five infiltrators from trouble torn neighboring Bangladesh, including three Rohingya Muslims were nabbed on Monday from Agartala railway station, official sources said.
Acting on intelligence inputs, a combined group of GRPF and BSF raided the railway station and arrested the five infiltrators before they board long distance trains and presented before a local court.
Sources in GRPF said, they were not carrying any valid documents or travel passes and were arrested on Indian Passport act. A legitimate case was registered against them.
Sources said that on the basis of their revelation many more Bangladeshis could be arrested.
A highly placed source said that the 856 KM long border with the neighboring country has become highly porous as the fencing is broken and in many places bamboo made fencing was erected to resist the infiltration bid.
Sources also pointed out that a section of the border guards are highly corrupt and they allow the Bangladeshis to enter Indian territory after being bribed by the infiltrators or the touts, who facilitate the infiltrators to cross the border.
Sources also pointed out that umber of BSF personnel are very less in number and it is virtually not possible to guard the border with such scanty forces. FD JK
