Agartala, Apr 1 (FD) The state government remains steadfast in its mission to provide quality education in schools operated by both the state and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). To strengthen the education system, 709 teachers have been deputed to TTAADC areas, with ₹66.98 crore allocated for their salaries in the 2024-25 financial year. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha shared these details in the Legislative Assembly while responding to a notice raised by MLA Pathanlal Jamatia.
Along with education, ensuring proper nutrition for students is a priority. Under the PM-POSHAN scheme, cooked meals are provided in upper and lower primary schools within ADC areas. The ADC administration receives an annual average of ₹5.38 crore for this initiative, and ₹494 crore has been allocated for the current financial year.
To further encourage students, the government is expanding hostel facilities. Fourteen out of fifteen hostels under the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme and nine out of sixteen under the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential School Hostel Project are located in TTAADC areas. Additionally, 39 hostels will be constructed under central schemes.
The Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan initiative is actively reducing dropout rates by engaging Anganwadi workers to enroll out-of-school children. Furthermore, a joint administrative committee will be formed to enhance teacher distribution and overall education quality in ADC-run schools.
