Agartala, Dec 28 (FD) The state government led by Bharatiya Janata Party is working with the aim of building modern agricultural infrastructure in all the sub-divisions of the state, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said on Wednesday.
After inaugurating the newly constructed Krishak Bandhu Kendra, Farmers Knowledge Centre and a 1000 MT capacity rice warehouse at Mandwi Block under Jirania sub-division today, he said, “The present government is giving utmost importance to the development of the agricultural sector in all the sub-divisions of the state. As a result, on the one hand, the income of farmers is increasing, on the other hand, the overall agricultural system is becoming stronger.”
Dr Saha also said that the state government is working according to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to improve the socio-economic condition of the farmers of the state.
“The Prime Minister always thinks about how to improve the socio-economic condition of the country's farmers. Accordingly the state government also takes initiatives under his vision to improve the condition of the state’s farmers,” Dr Saha said.
The state government had to bear Rs 1.25 crore to construct the 1000 MT capacity rice warehouse at Burakhai under the Block while Farmers Knowledge Centre constructed under the initiative of Tribal Welfare Department costs Rs 50 Lakh.
Besides, the Krishak Bandhu Kendra which was constructed at Gourmani stadium of Mandwi costs Rs 50 lakh.
In a social media post he wrote, “I strongly believe that the addition of these new facilities will especially benefit the farmers of the region in receiving better quality agricultural services.”
Agriculture Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Department Apurba Roy, West District Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Antara Sarkar Deb, MLA Birendra Debbarma and other officials attended the programme. FD PD JK
