BJP woos senior and prominent personalities in the party fold

Agartala, Oct 25 (FD) The ruling BJP’s woo to bring senior and prominent personalities to its party fold during its membership drive in Tripura continue.
The president of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) Dr Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury and the ace gymnastic coach Bishweshwar Nandi have today enrolled themselves as members of the saffron party.
BJP. Dr Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury had an inclination towards the saffron party from long back as his elder brother Professor Jagadish Ganchowdhury, who wrote the history of the state was closely associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
Bishweshwar Nandi, himself an ace gymnast of the yesteryears and the former coach of the internationally acclaimed female journalist , Deepa Karmakar joined the party due to his high regard for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I am amazed at the leadership quality of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I really wonder how he provides his leadership in the party and manage the administration”, he told reporters after joining the party.
It is reliably learnt that the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder had approached both Dr Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury and Bishweshwar Nandi in their homes to enroll the memberships.
Meanwhile, the president of the party Rajeev Bhattacharjee said that the membership enrollment drive of the party had been initiated by prime minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on September 2 and in Tripura by the chief minister Dr Manik Saha on September 3 .
“So far we have enrolled 7.44 lakh members online and about 2 lakhs offline, which is treated as an achievement and people’s love for the party”, Bhattacharya said. FD JK
