Agartala, October 22 (FD) Brushing aside all speculations Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today ruled out the possibility of forging alliance in the state election slated for early next year with TIPRA Motha, a tribal based party, which rules the Tripura Tribal Areas autonomous District council (TTAADC).
Vice president of the party, Dr. Ashok Sinha said, “Our party has decided not to ally with ADC's ruling TIPRA Motha party for the 2023 assembly polls. This decision was taken in the Chintan Baithak held recently.”
He said, BJP has decided to contest alone in assembly elections.
“If anyone wants to ally, they can come to talk to us. Our doors are open for all citizens. We are open for democratic discussion with everyone but not alliance", Dr. Sinha told reporters.
He said BJP general secretary BL Santosh, BJP secretary in charge for Tripura Mahesh Sharma, NE coordinator Sambit Patra and organizational secretary Phanindranath Sharma and others from the state including Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, former CM and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb had attended the Chintan Shibir and the unanimously decided not forge any alliance with TIPRA Motha.
He said the party has decided to continue its alliance with the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT), which is already in alliance with BJP in the state government.
"In Chintan Shivir, it was cleared that alliance with IPFT will continue, no further allegations would be done", Sinha said.
Asked if discussions were held about possible seat sharing understanding, he said he party higher-ups would handle such issues, but the issue of seat sharing would be done later.
The BJP is now has got 35 MLAs from BJP, six from IPFT, when the opposition CPI-M has 15 law makers and Congress has one MLA. FD JK
