Agartala, May 6 (FD) The ruling BJP in Tripura on Tuesday brought a scathing attack on opposition Congress for save constitution abhiyan.
The president of the Tripura unit of BJP and MP of Rajyasabha, Rajib Bhattacharjee said the Congress recently launched ‘Save Constitution Abhiyan’ across the state by organizing meetings and rallies, but they did not pay respect to Dr. BR Ambedkar, who is the father of the Indian Constitution.
“They are now talking big about saving the constitution, but they never paid any respect to the father of the Indian constitution and even did not confer Bharat Ratna award to him”, he said.
Bhattacharjee said that the Congress had murdered the constitution in 1975 by declaring the Emergency during the regime led by Indira Gandhi and many leaders and journalists were put behind the bar and their voices were throttled.
“People are not fools and they want to know why the President’s rule was imposed in the state in 1993, just before the assembly elections when the Congress-TUJS government was at the helm of affairs”, he said. FD JK
