Agartala, Aug 29 (FD) BJP national president J P Nadda on Monday virtually kicked off the campaign for the Tripura assembly due early next year saying that all round development has taken place in the state during the past four years under the party's rule and if it is voted back to power in 2023, the state's economic growth will "touch new heights".
Nadda, who is in a two-day tour from yesterday told a press conference here that the state attracted huge infrastructure investment, established peace and improved industrialization.
He said a double engine government is running the state and both at the state and the Centre will spur double growth in Tripura and touch new heights.
During the four years rule in the state political skirmishes had abolished and development of the tribals and non tribals have taken place.
Expressing his confidence the BJP national president said, “We have the confidence that people of the state would bless us in the next assembly elections and BJP would form government for the second straight term with two-third majority”.
He also claimed that state's per capita income has grown by 30 per cent to reach Rs 1,30,000 per annum, which showed that the state is going ahead in terms of development.
Nadda said the people of the state has seen the dark days of CPI-M and Congress rule, but during BJP’s four month’s rule witnessed development and peace.
He said, farmers' income has increased from Rs 6500 to Rs 11,000 per month due to paddy procurement at subsidized rate and successful implementation of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
Criticising the Marxist government’s last 25 years he said, the tribals were ignored, youths exploited and no welfare step was initiated for women's empowerment. The erstwhile government of the Congress in the state had allowed terrorism, infiltration and corruption in the northeastern state, he added.
Nadda critical of TMC government in West Bengal
He also heavily came down on the West Bengal Government for indulging in corruption, atrocities and mismanagement.
Addressing a press conference here Nadda said, BJP has become the "spokesman" of the people of West Bengal and will continue to raise its voice against corruption and lawlessness in the state adding that it had always protested against corruption, atrocities and mismanagement by the ruling Trinamool Congress in Bengal.
“It is a known fact that violence has taken place in Bengal after the Assembly elections there. TMC have been disobeying the rule of law, while CPI (M) and Congress remain silent spectators ... BJP has become the spokesman of the people of Bengal,” Nadda, said.
He is on a two-day visit to Tripura, said during a press conference at the party headquarters.
“If BJP could increase its vote share from 3 per cent to 38 per cent in Bengal in three years, the party can secure 40 per cent vote share in five years. The steep increase in BJP's vote share in Bengal is a record of the support by its people,” he said.
Coming down heavily on TMC, Nadda said, “We all should be ashamed of what has happened in Bengal's education and healthcare sectors.
“Bengal tops in human trafficking despite having a lady chief minister (Mamata Banerjee there,” he alleged.
BJP is the only political force which will fight against TMC in Bengal, Nadda added. FD JK
