Agartala, March 30 (FD) The ruling BJP was red faced, when a party MLA Jadab Lal Nath was allegedly caught on camera watching an obscene photograph in mobile phone, when the assembly session was on.
The incident occurred on Wednesday and the clip went viral in social media that Nath, a legislator from Bagbassa constituency was seeing pornography.
When contacted, he denied the incident saying that when he received a phone call then the obscene pictures were coming in and he closed the phone and reported the matter to the state party President, Rajib Bhattacharya.
“I know well that using mobile phones is prohibited in the house. When repeated calls were coming, I picked up one call and then obscene photos were coming in my phone. Anyway I could close it”, he said.
He also said that he had informed the matter to the President of the state unit of the party himself, who advised him to wait.
When contacted, the TPCC President, Birajit Sinha said, it is a shameful incident and the MLA should be punished.
“This incident has also tarnished the face of all the legislators in the assembly and this man should be appropriately punished. Use of mobile phones is completely prohibited in the assembly and how could he use it for viewing pornography”, he said.
Leader of the opposition, Animesh Debbarma has demanded appropriate action against the MLA,
“Speaker should take stern action against such act”, he told reporters.
Speaker of the Tripura assembly, Biswabandhu Sen said, " I have not received any complaint on it. I can not take action on the basis of social media post. If any complaint is lodged to me, I will initiate investigation and take appropriate action ". FD JK
