Agartala, Feb 3 (FD): The BJP stalwarts today slammed the Congress high command for reaching an agreement with the CPI(M) for seat sharing for the sixty member assembly elections slated for February 16 and termed it as ‘survival’ of both parties.
Addressing a election rally at Amarpur in Gomati district, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President JP Nadda said, they reached in the seat sharing agreement for their survival as both the parties have nothing to do with the public interest.
“Congress and CPI (M) are the two sides of the same coin. During the Marxist regime the CPI(M) let loose a reign of terror by attacking the Congress workers and on the other hand when Congress was at the helm of affairs they also attacked CPI(M) workers and force them to flee the state”, Nadda said.
Union Minister for Child and Women Development Smriti Irani also slammed Congress high command for seat-sharing with its rival political force CPI (M) in Tripura and insisted that the Congress workers should seek answers from the high command why did they bow down before the Marxists.
In a public rally address at Nalchhar in Sipahijala district, she said, “Decades after decade the CPI-M, which ruled Tripura had let loose violence on the Congress workers. Many Congress activists were murdered by the CPI-M goons. But the Congress high command did not hesitate to share seats with them”.
She said this act of sharing seats and giving nod by the Congress high command is a ‘sin’ and the Congress workers should ask for clarification from their leaders.
“It is the handy works of the Congress party high command and they did not think even for a moment of those party activists who have sacrificed their lives”, she said.
Nadda said, the two parties have joined forces due to their uncertain future but the BJP would form government in the state with overwhelming majority and gift a government which is corruption free and transparent.
He also appealed to the people to give a chance to BJP to form a government where wheels of development should keep moving forward and all efforts to move forward Tripura from backwardness.
He promised that 38,800 teachers will be appointed for the education of tribal students and Rs 15,000 crore was allotted for development of the tribals.
