Agartala, July 24 (FD) In a recent and noteworthy development, senior BJP leader and state party General Secretary, Kishor Barman, has expressed his desire to step down from his party post in accordance with the party's longstanding policy of 'one man, one-post'.
Barman, who also serves as an elected Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Nalchhar (No-21) constituency, addressed a letter to the state BJP President, Rajeev Bhattacharjee, conveying his intention.
In his letter, Barman recalled that he was relieved of his post as Organizing Secretary of the BJP in West Bengal on July 8, 2021, by the All India President, J.P. Nadda.
Subsequently, from July 20, 2021, until the present day, he has held the position of General Secretary of the party in Tripura under the presidency of Dr. Manik Saha and Rajeev Bhattacharjee himself.
While expressing his gratitude to Dr. Manik Saha and Rajeev Bhattacharjee for entrusting him with organizational responsibilities over the past two years, Barman asserted that he considers it inappropriate to hold dual posts, adhering to the tradition and policy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As such, he has sought exemption from the role of General Secretary of the Tripura state BJP.
As of now, there has been no official reaction from the top leaders of the BJP regarding Kishor Barman's offer to relinquish the General Secretary post. Sources within the party, however, have indicated that senior party leaders will convene to discuss the matter and reach a decision promptly. FD SB JK
