Agartala, Jan 8 (FD) Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday compared BJP as holy river Ganga and appealed to the leaders of the opposition parties to join the Party to get rid of all sins.
Addressing a gathering at Kakraban in South Tripura district, Dr Saha said, "I appeal to those who still believe in the ideals of Stalin and Lenin to join the BJP because it is like the river Ganga and if you take a bath in it, all your sins will be washed away."
He said that the BJP is confident of winning in ensuing assembly elections in Tripura with the blessings of the people of the state like 2018 elections.
The Chief Minister said, along with the people of majority the minorities also started believing in Modi-led BJP government.
“The state government is working continuously to further strengthen the unity of Janajati people and we want their development,” he said while addressing the gathering as part of Jan Vishwas Yatra.
Dr Saha alleged that there was no democracy during the Communist regime as they believed in violence and terror tactics.
“The Communists suppressed the people's democratic rights and ruled Tripura for years. In South Tripura district, as many as 69 opposition leaders were killed during the Left regime. Kakraban was no exception where a lot of political murders took place," he alleged.
Saha said the ‘Jan Viswas Yatra’ which was flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Saha on January 5 will abolish the opposition parties.
Later in the afternoon, the Chief Minister offered Puja at Mata Tripura Sundary temple in Udaipur under Gomati district on the occasion of his birthday. FD PD JK
