BJP appoints Abhishek Debroy as new Tripura president ahead of key political push

Agartala, May 28 (FD) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday appointed MLA Abhishek Debroy as the new president of its Tripura unit, replacing Rajib Bhattacharjee in a significant organisational reshuffle ahead of the party’s upcoming political and organisational activities in the state.
The appointment was announced through an official notification issued by BJP National General Secretary and Headquarters In-charge Arun Singh. According to the party, the decision was approved by BJP national president Nitin Nabin and has come into immediate effect.
Debroy, a first-time MLA representing the Matabari constituency, was elected to the Tripura Legislative Assembly in the 2023 Assembly elections on a BJP ticket. Known for his organisational involvement and growing influence within the party structure, Debroy is now expected to spearhead the BJP’s efforts to further consolidate its organisational base across Tripura and prepare the party for future electoral challenges.
The leadership transition is being viewed as a strategically important move by the ruling party as it seeks to strengthen its grassroots machinery and maintain political momentum in the state.
Soon after the announcement, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha congratulated Abhishek Debroy on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities.
The Chief Minister said he believes that under Debroy’s dynamic leadership and organisational vision, the BJP in Tripura will emerge stronger and continue working dedicatedly for the welfare and development of the people of the state.
Party leaders and workers across Tripura welcomed the announcement and conveyed their greetings to Debroy. FD JK
