Bangladeshi national, 3 Indian touts held at Agartala station

Agartala, April 16 (FD) In a coordinated operation conducted on Wednesday evening, one Bangladeshi national and three Indian touts were apprehended from Agartala Railway Station for illegally entering India and attempting to travel to other states. The operation was jointly executed by the Agartala Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department based on confidential inputs.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Mehdi Hasan (33), a resident of Faridpur district, Bangladesh; and Indian nationals Iqbal Hossain (21) and Riyaz Hossain (19), both from Phitara Madhyapara village under Arkepur Police Station in Gomati district; and Sumendra Pal (22) of Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they had entered India illegally from Bangladesh and arrived in Agartala with the intent to travel to Kolkata by train. They were intercepted before they could board.
The GRP has launched detailed interrogation sessions at the Agartala GRP Police Station. Authorities suspect that a larger network may be involved in the case, and further arrests are likely in the coming days. The investigation remains active as officials continue to gather more leads.
A case has been officially registered at Agartala GRP Police Station. All four accused will be produced before the Hon’ble Court today for further legal proceedings. FD SB JK
