Bangladesh stops visa services at Agartala centre

Agartala, Dec 3 (FD) Neighbouring government of Bangladesh has stopped processing of visas for the people living in Tripura, sources in the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission said here today.
Sources said, these developments came only after the incidents of torching the flag of the Bangladesh and a group of people entered inside the premises of the Asst. High Commission.
A notice board was put up, “Given the security situation, all visa and consular services at the Bangladesh Asst. High Commission, Agartala will remain suspended until further notice.
This comes into effect immediately. This is for intimation of all the visa and consular service seekers”.
Meanwhile, the government of Tripura, which looks after the law and order situation, increased the strength of the security personnel in and around the Bangladesh Asst. High Commission.
Sources in the police force said, “Security was beefed up in and around the Asst. High Commission of Bangladesh after yesterday’s attack. The flag was torched; some unwanted elements entered inside the commission’s house and also damaged some flower tubs”.
He further said that CRPF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) officials were deployed with the state police. FD JK
