Bail petition of drug sellers rejected and their family members were asked by HC to launch anti-drug campaign

Agartala, July3 (FD) The High Court of Tripura in a landmark judgment has asked the family members of the drug traffickers to launch a campaign against the abuse of the drugs.
The judgment was pronounced by the senior judge of the high court, Arindam Lodh on Monday in which justice Lodh ordered that the bail term of the drug sellers extended and the members of the drug mafia family launch a campaign for the next one month against the abuse of the drugs.
Two youths from Gondatuisa sub-division of Dhalai district, identified as Jibanjoy Tripura and Selenjoy Tripura were arrested in connection with Birganj PS Case No.2024/BRG/010 for allegedly committing offence punishable under Section 21(b)/29 of NDPS Act, 1985
They were arrested for selling drugs. When senior lawyer Subrata Sarkar filed a bail petition in favour of the two drug sellers was summarily rejected by justice Lodh and their jail custody was extended for one more month.
He then ordered the family members of the drug sellers to launch one month long anti-drug campaign in their area.
District Magistrate of Dhalai District, Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Gondatuisa Sub-Division, Gondatuisa Police Station, were directed to cooperate with the family members of the two accused drug mafias in their campaign against abuse of drugs. FD JK
