Badminton: PV Sindhu Marks Winning Return at India Open 2025

In badminton, ace India shuttler PV Sindhu made a winning return to the court as she defeated Chinese Taipei’s Shuo Yun Sung in straight games in the India Open 2025. Sindhu got the better of Sung in her Round of 32 clash in the tournament at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi today.
In the men’s singles event, Kiran George knocked out World No. 25 Yushi Tanaka in a hard-fought opening-round match of the BWF Super 750 tournament. George emerged victorious after a thrilling contest, winning 21-19, 14-21, and 27-25 in an hour and 11 minutes.
In the mixed doubles event, the Indian duo of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto advanced to the second round with a come-from-behind win over the South Korean pair of Yin-Hui Hsu and Cheng Kuan Chen of Chinese Taipei. After losing the first game 8-21, they rallied to secure the next two games 21-19 and 21-17 in a 51-minute encounter.
In men’s doubles, the match of the Indian duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty against Man Wei Chong and Kai Wun Tee of Malaysia is underway in the round of 32 matches.
Meanwhile, former World No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth withdrew from the tournament.
