Awareness programme on human rights was held with the active participation of women in Agartala

Agartala, May 24 (FD) Under the initiative of the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC) and in collaboration with the Chetana Institute of Women's Studies, an awareness programme on human rights was conducted on Tuesday at the Students Health Home, Jagannath Bari Road, Agartala, West Tripura. Approximately 100 women actively participated in the programme, which saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including Chairperson of THRC Justice Swapan Chandra Das, Hon'ble Members S. C. Saha and B. K. Roy, and Secretary Ratan Biswas.
During the event, Secretary of the Chetana Institute of Women's Studies, Supriya Sengupta, delivered a welcome speech commending the work of the Human Rights Commission and the assistance provided to victims. Chairperson S. C. Das highlighted the significance of human rights, emphasising that every individual deserves the right to life and liberty. He encouraged people to approach the Commission in case of any violation by public authorities.
Member S. C. Saha urged social organisations to come forward and lodge complaints to ensure justice for victims. Secretary Ratan Biswas discussed the collaborative efforts of the Commission's staff in delivering justice, and Member B. K. Roy explained the Commission's jurisdiction in investigating human rights violations caused by government servants or organisations.
Dy. S.P. Lalbim Molsom shed light on the investigation process, while OSD Animesh Dhar provided guidance on how to file a complaint with the Commission. Sumita Banerjee, President of the Chetana Institute of Women's Studies, extended a vote of thanks to all participants and the authorities of the Human Rights Commission.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about human rights, empower individuals to seek justice, and foster collaboration between the Commission and social organisations for the betterment of society. FD SB
