Australian Open Tennis: Badosa dispatches Gauff to make maiden Grand Slam semifinal

In Australian Open Tennis, eleventh seed Paula Badosa entered her maiden Grand Slam semifinal after upsetting World No. 3 Coco Gauff 7-5, 6-4 in the Women’s Singles quarterfinal today.
Badosa handed Gauff her first loss of 2025 in a 1-hour and 43-minute match inside Rod Laver Arena. The win also gave Badosa her first-ever Top 10 victory at a Grand Slam tournament.
The Spaniard now awaits the winner of the quarterfinal match between World No. 1 and two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and No. 21 seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
In Men’s Singles, World No. 2 Alexander Zverev of Germany beat America’s Tommy Paul in a four-set quarterfinal match 7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-1.
In another quarterfinal set for later today, reigning Olympic champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia is set to take on four-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz of Spain at Rod Laver Arena today.
In a setback to India, the Indo-China duo of Rohan Bopanna and Zhang Shuai lost the mixed doubles quarterfinal match 6-2, 4-6, 9-11 to the local pair of John Peers and Olivia Gadecki in Melbourne.
