Assam Rifles, Tripura Police Seize Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 38 Lakh in Kanchanpur

Agartala, Sept 1 (FD) Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Tripura Police, seized 9,500 Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 38 lakh in the Kanchanpur area of North Tripura district on August 31.

The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs received by Assam Rifles regarding the alleged movement of narcotics in the area. Acting on the information, Assam Rifles personnel and Tripura Police conducted a joint operation and intercepted a person suspected of transporting the contraband.

During the operation, security personnel recovered 9,500 Yaba tablets from the suspected carrier. A motorcycle, believed to have been used for transporting the narcotics, was also seized.

Following the operation, the recovered contraband, the apprehended individual and the seized motorcycle were handed over to Kanchanpur Police for further legal action.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the narcotics, their intended destination and the possible involvement of others in the alleged drug trafficking network.

The seizure marks another significant operation by security agencies against the illegal movement of narcotics in the Northeast. Assam Rifles and state police forces have intensified joint operations and surveillance in areas considered vulnerable to drug trafficking.

Authorities have been stepping up enforcement measures to dismantle narcotics networks and prevent the movement of illegal drugs through the region. The latest seizure forms part of continuing efforts by security agencies to curb drug trafficking and strengthen security in the Northeast. FD JK
