Assam Rifles rescues missing 10-year-old boy travelling alone on train

Agartala, Aug 25 (FD) Assam Rifles personnel in Agartala rescued a 10-year-old boy, identified as Joseph Mao, who had gone missing from Neisatuo Colony in Dimapur, Nagaland.

The child was located on August 23 by Assam Rifles personnel while travelling alone on a train from Dimapur. Rifleman Lawrance Hrangkhawl noticed the unaccompanied boy carrying a school bag and found that he was unable to provide his exact address or explain why he had boarded the train.

Displaying alertness and presence of mind, Rifleman Hrangkhawl immediately informed his senior officers and brought the child safely to the Assam Rifles location at Radhanagar in Agartala.

Assam Rifles personnel subsequently launched efforts to establish the boy’s identity and trace his family.

During the verification process, personnel came across a missing-person appeal circulated on social media. The information helped confirm the child’s identity, following which his parents were contacted and informed about his safe recovery.

The matter was also brought to the notice of the local police authorities to ensure necessary coordination and facilitate the child’s safe reunification with his family.

The timely intervention by the Assam Rifles personnel ensured the safety of the minor and helped authorities trace his family after he was found travelling alone far from his home. FD JK
