Agartala, May 20 (FD) Assam Rifles and the Indian Army conducted a two-day Joint Flood Relief Training Exercise in Tripura aimed at strengthening coordination and enhancing operational preparedness for disaster response during flood situations in the state.
The exercise was organised to improve disaster management capabilities and ensure effective execution of rescue and relief operations during natural calamities, particularly during the monsoon season when Tripura frequently faces flood-related challenges.
Troops from both forces participated in a series of joint drills focusing on flood response mechanisms, rescue procedures, evacuation techniques and emergency coordination. Officials said the training was designed to enhance synergy, readiness and interoperability between the two forces to enable swift and efficient responses during flood emergencies.
During the exercise, personnel practised standard operating procedures and utilised common equipment and operational protocols to ensure seamless coordination and uniformity in execution during real-time disaster situations.
The programme also emphasised improving cooperation among security agencies engaged in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations.
Officials stated that the initiative has further strengthened preparedness levels and reaffirmed the commitment of the security forces to extend timely support to civil authorities and safeguard lives and property during emergencies and natural disasters.
Given Tripura’s vulnerability to seasonal flooding, coordinated disaster response mechanisms are considered crucial for ensuring rapid rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts across affected areas. FD JK
