Arunachal Pradesh to Establish Three New Medical Colleges in PPP Mode; MBBS Seats at TRIHMS Increased

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that the state government is planning to establish three more Medical Colleges in the state in PPP mode. He said that the medical colleges will be in East Siang, Namsai and West Kameng districts.
Mr. Khandu said this while attending the induction ceremony of the 2024-25 batch at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Itanagar yesterday.
From this academic year the number of seats for the MBBS course in TRIHMS has been increased to 100 from the existing 50. Mr. Khandu expressed happiness and said that the increase in number of seats from this year meant that more number of local youths will get the opportunity to pursue medicine. 85 of the 100 seats will be reserved for Arunachal Pradesh ST students.
The Chief Minister also said that a MoU has been signed between Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute, Assam, and the State Cancer Society of Arunachal Pradesh to investigate the rising cancer rates in the state.
