Arms recovered ahead of Union Home Minister’s visit

Agartala, Jan 3 (FD) Police on Tuesday recovered one air gun with five live cartridges and one pistol from the house of one Nirmal Dutta at Sukantanagar in Kumarghat subdivision of Unakoti district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of Dutta at about 11 am and recovered the arms and ammunitions and nabbed him, AIG, Law and Order said.

The incident of recovery of arms ahead of the visit of the union home minister Amit Shah assumes significance.

Shah would visit the state on Jan 5 to flag off the Ratha Yatra of ruling BJP from Dharmanagar in North Tripura and Sabroom in South Tripura. FD JK
