Agartala, June 22 (FD) Tripura Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister Sudhangshu Das on Monday said the department achieved an impressive 98 per cent target fulfilment rate during the 2025-26 financial year and is now concentrating on expanding the reach of welfare schemes to benefit a larger section of the population in the current fiscal.
The Minister made the statement after chairing a comprehensive departmental review meeting at the State Secretariat. The meeting was attended by ARDD Secretary Deepa D. Nair, Director Neeraj Kumar Chanchal, and other senior departmental officials.
Reviewing the department’s performance during the previous financial year, Das said the meeting examined the implementation status of various state and centrally sponsored schemes, assessed achievements and challenges, and identified areas requiring further improvement.
In the first review meeting of the 2026-27 financial year, Das said, such review meetings are conducted twice annually to evaluate targets, monitor the progress of welfare programmes, and ensure effective implementation of government schemes.
He noted that the department would prepare a detailed roadmap based on the budgetary allocations approved under different schemes to ensure timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries across the state.
Emphasising the department’s commitment to public welfare, Das said the primary objective remains to maximize the impact of government schemes while ensuring the efficient utilization of both state and central funds.
“Our focus is to ensure that welfare initiatives reach the grassroots level and provide maximum benefit to farmers, livestock owners, and other stakeholders associated with the sector,” he added.
The Minister also directed officials to maintain a high level of efficiency and accountability in executing developmental programmes and welfare projects.
While acknowledging certain delays in infrastructure-related works, Das attributed the setbacks mainly to procedural requirements in the tendering process and seasonal constraints. Despite these challenges, he said the department had delivered a strong overall performance during the last financial year.
“We have achieved 98 per cent in 2025-26, which reflects the dedication and hard work of the department. Although some construction and infrastructure projects experienced delays, we have made substantial progress across sectors. Now our priority will be to broaden the reach of welfare schemes and ensure that a greater number of beneficiaries receive support under various government initiatives,” the Minister said.
The review meeting also focused on strategies to accelerate project implementation and enhance service delivery in the animal husbandry and livestock development sectors during the ongoing financial year. FD JK
