An insurgent leader nabbed, police recover arms and ammunition from his possession

Agartala, AprĀ 7 (FD) Supremo of a newly formed insurgent outfit, Tripura United National Front (TUNF) was arrested with arms at Bhandarima, a village near the Indo-Bangla international border, at Kanchanpur sub-division of North Tripura district.
Acting on a tip-off, a strong contingent of police led by Additional Superintendent of Police, Jeremia Darlong and the SDPO, Asish Thakur raided the village and managed to arrest the insurgent leader, identified as Anida Reang (28).
He was holed-up in a tong ghar in an inaccessible area, but police could manage to arrest him after a long trekking.
Police raided the hideout at the wee hours of the last Sunday and seized a sophisticated weapon with ammunition and extortion notices.
The insurgent leader was presented before a local court, which granted four days police remand.
Investigation is on and it is expected that some important information regarding the movements of insurgents between the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) of Bangladesh and Kanchapur subdivision would be divulged by the insurgent leader. FD JK
