An advocate arrested on charge of murder and a police official arrested for public nuisance

Agartala, Nov 14 (FD) When a professional lawyer was arrested in Tripura allegedly for involvement in killing a court clerk, a sub-inspector of police was arrested for creating ruckus in drunken condition.

Lawyer Gopal Singh was arrested and produced before a local court which remanded him jail custody till November 24.

He was arrested on charge of murder of a deed writer (Muhuri) Amit Acharjee on September 5.

He was at large after the murder with five other co-accused, but police netted him when returned home.

But on Sunday last Gopal Singh returned home and the people of the area reported the matter to police and he was arrested.

In separate incident, a sub-inspector posted at  Teliamura police station in Khowai district, Ramakrishna Das was arrested on Monday for creating tumultuous situation in the area under the impact liquor.

This police official earned notoriety for repeating such incidents, but officials of his police station turned a blind eye.

However, his unruly behavior created a bad impact among the local people, who repeatedly filed complaints in the police station.

However, police was forced to initiate legal action against him as he crossed all limits.

The police official is being interrogated in police custody. FD JK
