Amit Shah will visit a Bru settlement village on Dec. 22

Agartala, Dec 18 (FD) Union Minister for Home affairs Amit Shah, who will attend the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) here on Dec 21, will also visit a Bru settlement village in Dhalai district, officials said today.
More than 37 thousand Brus had taken shelter in Tripura, mainly at Kanchanpur in North Tripura district after being displaced at neighbouring Mizoram following ethnic clashes there.
However, they were given permanent settlement in Tripura after signing a quadruplet agreement between the centre, Tripura and Mizoram Governments and Brus in January 2020 and centre also sanctioned Rs 600 crores for their settlements in 12 locations of Tripura’s eight districts.
“Shah would visit Bruhapara on December 22 and address them at Masurai para in Dhalai district. Shah would also attend the National Cooperative Conference on the day at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan”, the official added.
The NEC was constituted in 1971 under the North Eastern Council Act, but became functional on November 1972. FD JK
