All household in the state to receive drinking water by the end of this year

Agartala, Nov 17 (FD) Minister for Drinking Water and Health Sanitation Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday every household of the state would enjoy the facility of pure drinking water by the end of this year under the Jal Jiwan Mission scheme.
“Our aim is to deliver purified drinking water to every citizen of the state by December 2022 through Jal Jiwan Mission,” he wrote in a facebook post.
He made this announcement after a successful meeting and review of the status of the government’s target to supply drinking water to every household of the state.
The meeting chaired by Chowdhury at Pragna Bhavan here, where he instructed officials of the drinking water and sanitation department to work in mission mode to complete the project on time.
Chowdhury pointed out that due to the delay in the tender submission process, the concerned agencies could not start the project work on time.
“In the meeting, I gave instructions to speed up the implementation of the tender process,” he added.
Among others the meeting was attended by Abhishek Singh, the new secretary of the department and the former secretary, Kiran Gitte.
Secretary of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Abhishek Singh, Chief Engineer of Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Shyamlal Bhowmik, Acting Director of Water and Sanitation Support Organization Tripura and various circle and divisional supervisors, executives and representatives of Tripura State Electrical Corporation Limited (TSECL) were also present in the meeting.
