All arrangements for first phase of elections in Tripura complete

Agartala, Apr 18 (FD) The stage is all set for elections to the West Tripura Parliamentary constituency in the first phase of the elections to be held on Friday, official sources said today.
Bi-elections to Ramnagar Assembly constituency will also be held along with the parliamentary seat, sources added.
Altogether 14.61 lakh voters are eligible to cast their votes, of which 7.33 lakh are male and 7.28 lakh are female.
Although nine candidates have filed their nominations for the West Tripura parliamentary seat, the main battle will be fought between the BJP candidate Biplab Kumar Deb and INDIA bloc candidate Asish Kumar Saha, who is the President of the Tripura Pradesh Congress.
Returning Officer of the Tripura West Parliamentary constituency Vishal Kumar told reporters that 20, 000 election officials have already left for the 1682 polling stations and all arrangements were made for a peaceful election.
He said adequate security arrangements were made and the central paramilitary forces along with the state forces have been deployed for area dominations and arrangements for webcasting were also done.
In the bi-elections to the Ramnagar assembly constituency, 54,669 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise.
In this assembly constituency the main fight will be between BJP candidate Dipak Majumer, the Mayor of Agartala and former CPI(M) MLA Ratan Das. FD JK
