Alert sounded over inclement weather, life paralysed over the state

Agartala, Nov 17 (FD) An alert was sounded by the meteorological department in Tripura about extreme inclement weather including heavy rainfall and thunder showers for the next two days.
“Possibility of damage to vulnerable structures due to heavy to very heavy rain . Partial Damages to Kutcha Houses and Huts due to uprooting of trees. Possibilities of Flash floods due to intense spell of rainfall. Water logging / flooding in low lying areas. Landslides/mud slide/land slip in some locations very likely. Heavy rainfall may damage the standing crops and vegetables in the maturity stage. Lightning may injure people and cattle at open place. Dispersion of soil from the field and hence seed displacement and poor germination of seeds.”, the press release issued by IMD department said.
Meanwhile, normal life was almost paralysed in the state including the capital city due rain and light storm coupled with severe power cut. Situation aggravated since Friday afternoon due to storms and heavy rains.
The roads in the capital city wore almost a deserted look as the movement of people and vehicle was sparse.
Government officials said they took precautionary measures to face the impact of cyclonic storm "Midhili" over Northwest Bay of Bengal which moved north-northeastwards.
Officials said, the situation would continue till Sunday next. FD JK
