Agartala, Oct 21 (FD): Akasa Air, a 189 seated aircraft, took its first flight from MBB airport on Friday.
The passenger service of Akasa Air was inaugurated by Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at Agartala airport today.
The route for this flight service will cover Agartala, Guwahati and Bengaluru. The flight will fly daily starting its journey from Bengaluru to Agartala via Guwahati and a return flight from Agartala to Bengaluru directly. This will serve a lot of passengers, since it covers three airports on a single route and provides a new option of flight service for passengers to select.
Dr. Manik Saha in his address said, “The main pillar of development is improved communication systems. Aiming in that direction, the present government is making all efforts to develop the communication system.”
Akasa air founded by Vinay Dube is a low cost airline from SNV Aviation Pvt. Ltd. with its headquarters in Mumbai. The airline service is fairly new with its recent first commercial flight service from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on 7th Aug 2022, after receiving its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
Flight services are a major form of communication in the hilly state of Tripura. Thus introduction of a new Akasa Air flight brings hope for increase in flight availability and improvement in soaring price of tickets.
Minister Pranajit Singha Roy was also present at the inauguration ceremony. FD DM
