Agitational programme against Waqf amendment withdrawn from Kailashahar

Agartala, April 17 (FD) The Joint Platform for Movement against Waqf Amendment (JPMWA) has withdrawn their agitational programme in Kailashahar, the district headquarters of Unakoti following talks with police officials.
Stating this, the leader of the movement Badfarujjaman said all agitational programmes were withdrawn, but there will be a token protest in all the mosques on Friday before the Jumma’s namaz.
He said the protest began on April 12 in which 8 protesters were arrested.
“But we must appreciate the patience and good behavior of the police officials including the OC of Irani police station, Arunoday Das, OC Kailashahar police station, Sukanta Sen and the District police Chief, Sudhambika”, Badarujjaman said.
Recently, the DG Police (Intelligence), Anurag Dhyankar and IG, Monchak Ipper also visited the place recently and discussed the issue with the police officials there.
He also mentioned that they have no plan to agitate recently as a case was filed in the supreme court and thus matter have become subjudice.
All sections of people in Kailashahar appreciated the decision taken by JPMWA. FD JK
