Agartala, Aug 22 (FD) In a significant step towards strengthening women-led enterprises and rural livelihoods, vehicle keys under the Ajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY) were formally handed over to women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from different Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) under the Bamutia Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU).
The initiative was carried out in the presence of the District Magistrate and Collector of West Tripura, along with officials of the West Tripura District Mission Management Unit (DMMU).
As part of the programme, two Maruti Eeco vehicles were flagged off and handed over to SHG members, popularly known as SHG Didis, under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) project. The initiative is expected to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural women while improving transportation facilities and strengthening last-mile connectivity in the area.
Officials said the AGEY initiative would enable SHG members to develop community-based enterprises, generate regular income and contribute more effectively to their household economy. The programme also seeks to improve access to transportation in rural areas, particularly for communities facing connectivity challenges.
Meanwhile, a Block-Level Review Meeting was held at the Bamutia RD Block under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate and Collector, West Tripura. The meeting was attended by the Chairman and members of the Bamutia Panchayat Samiti, Pradhans, social workers and officials from various departments.
The meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental works and government schemes across key line departments, including Power, Public Works Department, Animal Resources Development Department, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Food, Block Administration and Sub-Divisional Administration.
The District Magistrate stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among different departments to ensure timely implementation of development projects and effective delivery of government services at the grassroots level.
The handover of AGEY vehicles was seen as a major boost to women’s economic empowerment and community-based livelihood initiatives, reinforcing the role of SHGs in strengthening rural development and improving the socio-economic condition of families across Bamutia. FD SB
