Agartala prepares for Grand Durga Puja idol immersion carnival

Agartala, Oct 25 (FD) After a four-day celebration of Durga Puja culminating in Bijoya Dashami, the city of Agartala is now gearing up for the grand idol immersion carnival, commonly known as Mayer Gomon, scheduled for Thursday.
All Puja organizers in Agartala city will participate in the grand event of idol immersion, taking turns in the proceedings. This event holds particular significance as it showcases idols from major Puja organizers in a colorful parade, adding an extra layer of celebration to the festive season.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth post-Puja event. Mayor Dipak Majumder stated that preparations have been made for a safe and enjoyable Durga Puja, and the idol immersion process has already begun, with 182 idols immersed following the rituals.
The carnival, scheduled for October 26 (Thursday), will see the participation of 376 clubs, with arrangements made for cranes, laborers, and drummers at the site. Agartala Municipal Corporation is overseeing all important components to ensure a smooth and efficient immersion process, which is expected to take just 10–15 minutes.
The Mayor also mentioned that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will formally launch the event at Agartala City Centre, and they anticipate a large turnout of over one lakh people for the carnival in Agartala city. FD SB
