AFSPA Extend for 6 Months in Parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland Starting October 1

The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, AFSPA, has been extended in three districts of Arunachal Pradesh and a few areas in Namsai district for six months with effect from the 1stĀ of October. In a notification, the Home Ministry said Tirap, Changlang, and Longding districts in Arunachal Pradesh and areas falling within the jurisdiction of Namsai, Mahadevpur, and Chowkham police stations in Namsai district have been declared as disturbed areas.
AFSPA has also been extended in eight districts of Nagaland and a few areas in five districts for 6 months. These districts are Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren.
