Agartala, May 6 (FD) Access to advanced and affordable healthcare within the state has become a central priority of the government, with renewed emphasis on reducing the financial burden on citizens seeking treatment. Strengthening referral hospitals with modern infrastructure and specialized services is now enabling patients to receive complex medical care without traveling outside the state.
At a recent public outreach session held at the Chief Minister’s official residence, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for all. He stressed that significant progress has already been made, including the successful execution of complicated procedures such as kidney transplants within the state. He urged citizens to build confidence in local referral hospitals and avoid unnecessary expenditure on private healthcare facilities outside the state.
During the 65th edition of the public interaction program, several individuals from different regions sought medical and financial assistance. Among them was a woman from a financially struggling family requesting support for her daughter’s critical heart condition. Another student appealed for help regarding her father’s severe kidney ailment. The Chief Minister personally listened to their concerns and directed officials to arrange immediate and advanced treatment.
Several other citizens also presented requests related to complex surgeries, chronic illnesses, and access to medicines. In response, the Chief Minister instructed concerned departments to ensure swift medical intervention, including the provision of free medicines where necessary.
Officials from key departments, including health, finance, and social welfare, were present during the session to facilitate prompt action. The initiative reflects the government’s broader mission to remain accessible and responsive to public needs, reinforcing its commitment to public welfare and inclusive healthcare. FD SB
