Agartala, May 27 (FD) The online admission process for general degree colleges across Tripura has officially commenced through the 'Samarth' portal, beginning May 23 and continuing until May 30, 2025. The first merit list will be published on June 11 on the respective college websites, announced Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the Department of Higher Education, during a press conference at the Secretariat.
In line with the Ministry of Education and Tripura University guidelines, all admissions are being conducted online. A second round of admission will be held from June 21 to June 25 for remaining seats. Students can apply to a maximum of four colleges, selecting up to two major subjects per college.
To expand higher education access, three new degree colleges will open from the 2025–26 academic session at Ambassa, Karbook, and Kakraban. Admission information for these institutions will be available on the Directorate of Higher Education website.
Following the National Education Policy (NEP), steps are underway to transform institutions into multi-disciplinary hubs. From 2025–26, undergraduate courses will be introduced at IASE, Kunjaban and the College of Teacher Education, Kumarghat. IASE will offer English as a major, while Kumarghat will offer Education and Political Science.
Additionally, Sabroom English Medium School will be repurposed as the science wing of Michael Madhusudan Dutt College. Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) will be upgraded to a Government Technical University, and Agartala Women’s College will become a Government Women’s University.
To address faculty shortages, recruitment for 201 Assistant Professors and 13 Principals is underway through TPSC, with additional approvals for more positions. FD SB
