The government today said that a total of three thousand ninety-four illegal recruitment agents across the country have been notified on the eMigrate portal as of October this year. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said that the Ministry has noticed that various travel agents in Punjab, who are not authorized to engage in recruitment for overseas employment as per the provisions of The Emigration Act, 1983, are carrying out this work illegally. He added that in the cyber domain, action is being taken against illegal recruiting agents in association with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs and State Police authorities. A total of 38 FIRs have been registered against illegal recruiting agencies based in Punjab.
Mr. Singh further said that advisories have been issued through eMigrate portal, social media handles, and other publicity channels about the dangers of fake job rackets and how to prevent them. The Ministry also conducts an awareness campaign on safe and legal migration across the country, including in Punjab, through the eMigrate portal.
