Agartala, April 25 (FD) Tripura is preparing for an intensive Aadhaar enrolement drive to ensure early identity and access to government welfare schemes for the children, an official said today.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has entrusted the responsibility to the state’s health department as register-cum-enrollment agency to focus on Aadhaar enrollment for children aged zero to five years, Secretary of the state Health department, Kiran Gitte said.
He said the state has procured 738 Child Nodal Center (CNC) kits, which would be distributed to the district hospitals, Community Health Centers (CHCs) and Primary Health Centers throughout the state and the state government will also impart trainings to the concerned staffs for smooth implementation of the process.
98,000 children of the 0-5% age group have been enrolled under Aadhaar in the state as against 2.86 lakh children in this category and the state now aims to register the rest.
“So far only 34 % of the states children under this category could be enrolled and now with the intensive programme we want to register the balance. We want that all children get all benefits and entitlements from their birth.” Gitte said.
He also mentioned that the CNC kits will be very helpful for registering the names in Aadhaar enrollment process and the process for enrollment will be started by next three months. FD JK
