Agartala, Jan 2 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said his government would address the ‘big gap’ in the teacher-student ratio in the state.
Addressing an event at Ramesh English Medium HS School at Udaipur, the district headquarters of Gomati district, Saha said, “Our vision is to provide proper education to the students following the National Education Policy 2020. During our review of the system, we have found that there has been a big gap between the ratio of the teachers and students. I have spoken to the Secretaries of the state Education and the Finance department to solve the problems”.
He said that there was a time when the state like Tripura had followed the syllabi of the West Bengal board and Calcutta University.
“But the state now follows the NCERT syllabi and the National Education policy, which have given an advantage to the students for appearing in the national level examinations. Now we are also more careful for development of the education in this state”, Saha said.
He said that as a mark of developing the system, the state government has provided 1.30 lakh bicycles to the students to help them easily going to the schools and made the female students to study free of costs from class nine.
“We want to make Tripura an educational hub. Besides two government universities in the state there are six private universities. Lot of students from outside now comes to Tripura for study”. FD JK
