A train from Bangladesh reaches Agartala

Agartala, Sept 15 (FD) Much awaited Akhaura-Agartala railway line is likely to be inaugurated soon as a trial run in Bangladesh side was completed successfully in Bangladesh side and the Nischintapur railway station in Indian side is fully equipped to receive train from the neighbouring country, officials said today.
“A technical trial run was made on the on the newly constructed railway tracks from Bangladesh’s Gangasagar to Tripura’s Nischintapur on Thursday and the dignitaries from India and Bangladesh can open the newly built track any time”, the official said.
With the opening of the new track Bangladesh railway would be connected with the railway network India’s North-East and give a boost to the trade and connectivity between the two countries.
Of the 15 km long Akahura-Agartala international rail line 6.7-km stretch is in Indian side.
The state capital of Tripura would be connected with Gangasagar railway station in Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. FD JK
