A toy train project likely to come up at Unakoti

Agartala, Jan 20 (FD) Tripura tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Sunday stated that the Tripura Government is contemplating to introduce toy trains at Unakoti, a place famous for rock-cut carvings throughout the country.
Speaking on the occasion of Pilak festival at Jolaibari in South Tripura district, he said that the Asian Development bank sanctioned Rs. 70 crores for the purpose.
The project would also address some problems of livelihood and accommodations would be created in the area for the tourists.
He also said that a new tourists’ circuit would be made in Jolaibari encompassing the Pilak archaeological site, Mahamuni Pagoda, Maitree setu and Trishna Wildlife sanctuary.
Chowdhury said, the tourists coming to the spots will get better accommodations and good foods of their choice and he also assured to address a few local demands like a good motor stand and renovation of the tourist’s lodge.
He said, the local demands were raised by the local MLA and minister Shuklacharan Noatia in the cabinet and it was decided to be implemented. FD JK
