A seminar on Proxy Representation of Women Elected Representatives held here

Agartala, Nov 12 (FD) A seminar on Proxy Representation of Women Elected Representatives has decided to formulate a policy document on Panchayati Raj system in the north eastern region, officials said today.
The Tripura government hosted a two-day consultative regional seminar on ‘Proxy Representation of Women Elected Representatives in Panchayati Raj Institutions’ at Agartala’s Pragna Bhawan on Monday.
The seminar was attended by 80 participants from Tripura and five other Northeastern states – Sikkim, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Manipur.
As part of the event, Union panchayat ministry delegates are scheduled to visit the Hoolakhet Gram Panchayat under Matabari RD Block and Paschim Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under Jirania RD Block on Tuesday.
Panchayat Secretary, Tripura, Sandeep R Rathod, said, “Representatives of Panachayat bodies from different states of the Northeast including three women sabhadhipatis from Khowai, Sepahijala, and North Tripura district took part in the seminar.
So, a policy document will be made in the future based on their statements, thoughts, and ideas on how they want to develop the panchayati raj system.” FD JK
