A rape accused flee from near prison gate at Kailashahar

Agartala, Nov 25 (FD) A under trial prisoner, who was facing charge of raping a minor girl escaped from a prison van near the jail gate in Tripura’s Unakoti district, an official said on Friday.

The 23-year-old prisoner was taken to a local court for production and after reaching in front of the jail gate at around 7 pm on Thursday he along with two other under trials alighted from the prison van and one of them managed to give a slip.

An alert has been sounded along the international border, which is nearby, so that he cannot flee to Bangladesh.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kailahahar, Pradip Sarkar said, the incident occurred on Thursday and added the fugitive was booked under the POCSO Act in October.

The two others under trials, however, were taken inside the jail safely. FD JOY
