A group of thieves brake into two houses, decamp with cash, gold items at Melagarh

Agartala, May 21 (FD) A group of six to seven unidentified individuals, broke into two houses and decamped with approximately Rs. 10,000 in cash and several gold ornaments at Melagarh in Sepahijala district on Friday.
Haradhan Das (45) and Jiban Das (43), who are brothers, alleged that the gang entered into their homes by breaking through grills and doors.
They further stated that the intruders looted the available cash and valuable gold items from their almirahs between 2:00 am and 2:30 am.
The victims also alleged that they were threatened to be killed if they non-cooperate with them.
In response to the incident, the police have filed a case against the unidentified individuals under Sections 452 (house trespass), 382 (theft), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Jyotisman Das Chowdhury, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the gang members are not local residents. The police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter to apprehend the culprits responsible for this crime. FD PD JK
